Description
Raspberry Pi model B 3 is the third generation Raspberry Pi is a completely new 64-bit 1.2GHz 4-core ARM processor, 1GB of RAM and built-in WiFi (b / g / n) and Bluetooth 1.4 Pi 3 retains the same dimensions and layout of connectors, like its predecessors, so it is fully compatible with all existing modules. On board we find only a few minor differences.
Properties:
- 1.2GHz 64-bit 4-core processor ARM Cortex-A53 (~ 10x faster than Pi 1 and about 50-60% faster than Pi 2)
- Faster VideoCore @ 400 MHz video / 300MHz 3D graphics
- Built-in WiFi 802.11 b / g / n
- Integrated Bluetooth 4.1 LE
- Control LEDs RUN and contacts wings have Wifi / Bluetooth antenna
- The lights are therefore moved to the other side of the DSI port and RUN contacts to the opposite end of the GPIO
- Snap microSD slot has been replaced by a simpler retractable microSD slot
- Moving recorded some small components on the board
- Newly instead 2A 2.5A source recommended minimum is ~ 1.3a source
Performance:
In comparison with the Raspberry Pi 2 processor has a 33% higher frequency (1.2GHz vs 0,9GHz) and a more modern kernel with efficient instruction set, especially when performing operations with 64-bit values. Video and 3D performance also increased to increase the frequency VideoCore at 400 MHz (250 MHz) for video processing, or at 300 MHz (250 MHz) for processing 3D graphics. During normal use, you can expect Raspberry Pi 3 will be about 50% faster than the Raspberry Pi 2 with the same software. In the future, as the software end up being greater optimization for the new 64-bit akrchitekturu, this gap will grow even more. A processor can ARMv8 on Raspberry Pi 3 to run the entire range of ARM GNU / Linux distributions, including Ubuntu MATE Snappy Ubuntu Core, or Microsoft Windows IoT.
WiFi and Bluetooth:
The biggest change is the integration of WiFi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.1 LE, two other options to connect to the LAN Raspberry, directly on the plate. Drivers for Bluetooth and WiFi are included in the last noobs 1.8.0, which offers pre-installed on our cards.
GPIO:
GPIO header layout remained unchanged. PI 3 has the same 40 pins as Pi 2B + 1B and 1A +. This ensures 100% compatibility with existing expansion modules and HAT plates.
