Description
The 2nd generation MPPS controller MR4316AC NG optimizes the adaptation of the resistance of the heating coil of the boiler and photovoltaic panels so that the energy obtained from the panels is as large as possible. It is connected between the solar panel and the heating coil of the boiler.

In order for the controller to work in reasonable conditions, it is advisable to select the voltage and power of the panels within a certain range. The panel voltage must be neither too low nor too high. At low voltage it will not be possible to push the power of the panels into the load, too high voltage could damage the controller. The maximum number of panels in a series can only be such that their no-load voltage never exceeds 430 V. Inspection is easy. In the documentation for the panels, you will find the no-load voltage (this is the highest value given in the documentation), multiply it by a factor of 1.15, thus calculating the voltage of the panels at a temperature of -25 degrees Celsius. C. Multiply the resulting voltage by the number of panels in series. The calculated voltage must always be less than 430 V. If not, the number of panels must be reduced. From a control point of view, the optimal supply voltage should be in the range of 100 to 125% of the rated load voltage (this is usually 230 V). The supply voltage is calculated as the product of the number of panels in series and their voltage at the operating point (lower voltage value in the panel documentation). The optimal peak performance of the panels (again, see the panel documentation) should be in the range of 100 to 125% of the load power input. By adhering to these conditions, you will get the best ratio between costs and energy gained.


A boiler with an input of up to 4000 W can be connected to the output. The input voltage can be from 60 to 430 V. The controller can only reduce the output voltage, therefore it is necessary to select the number and output of panels according to the voltage and load input. The controller uses a new method of active power point search (MPPS - Maximum Power Point Searching) when powering the boiler. This method eliminates power losses compared to the MPPT method if the photovoltaic panels do not have the same properties, rated power, their temperature changes or they are not evenly lit. 6 LEDs on the front panel are used to indicate power supply and current power. The controller has a second DC output to which energy is automatically redirected (without any other intervention) from the panels if the boiler at the AC output is disconnected. The controller can operate in four operating modes, which are described below. Eight parameters can be stored in the processor's memory using the button on the controller board: rated output voltage, panel test period, output boiler connection test period, operating mode, I2C controller address, rated load power, heated water volume and minimum heating temperature.
