Battery balancer used in PV installations that require a battery voltage higher than 12V. Also called a voltage equalizer, this is a device used to protect the voltage of 12V batteries connected in series at the same level. This protects the system's individual batteries from overcharging, which can lead to excessive gassing, as well as uneven discharge, which can lead to sulfation, both of which can cause permanent battery damage. The principle of operation is based on independently measuring the voltage of two 12V batteries connected in a 24V bank, determining the middle point of such a series of batteries and transferring energy from a battery with a higher voltage to a battery with a lower voltage.
Function description: - the device works in the entire range of voltages acceptable for the battery and tries to always maintain the same voltage values at them. - in the entire voltage range, both during charging and discharging of accumulators, the balancer balances the difference in the capacity of the accumulator so that the charging and discharging process is optimized. - in case of large differences in battery charge, under all conditions, it guarantees the transfer of energy from a more charged battery to a less charged one, so that the voltages on them are the same. - thanks to the high current efficiency, it is ideal for batteries with a capacity of up to 100 Ah - the BL 5 version (compensates the charging and discharging current up to 5A) and over 100Ah the BL 10 version (compensates up to 10A).
If it is necessary to build a battery pack with a voltage higher than 24 V from 12 V batteries, multiple batteries and balancers must be connected in series in the system.
