The AA size Li-Ion rechargeable cell (pencil battery) with USB-C charging slot on the cell body is a modern alternative to classic Ni-MH batteries. The main advantage is that no special charger is needed to charge it, just a regular USB-C adapter with cable. The cell contains an internal DC-DC converter that converts the voltage of the built-in Li-Ion battery (3.6V) to an output level of 1.5V.

Warning:
-When charging, the cell has full charging voltage at its poles, so the cell must be removed from the unit while charging or the unit must be disconnected from the power supply.
